What To Expect

For Beginners Classes

Easy going and detailed

This class is designed for beginners & those students who have been practising for only a short period of time. You will cover the foundational postures of our Vinyasa yoga sequence, breathing exercises and meditation techniques that form the fundamentals of yoga.

For Intermediate & Advance Classes

Get ready to sweat!

It is a dynamic, vigorous practice that synchronizes movement and breath in a continuous flow of poses beginning with Sun Salutations.

Intense internal heat creates a cleansing and purifying sweat. It increases strength, stamina, flexibility, and mental focus. It is a fast-paced class with poses that also encourage alignment, balance, and cardiovascular endurance.

F A Q

Is there a class etiquette?

Yes! Yoga is a about discipline, so please come to class 15 minutes earlier as there is no late admittance. Once in class, maintain silence and listen carefully to the teacher’s instructions. Allow yourself at least five classes to become familiar with the sequences and see it's benefits.

What should I wear/bring?

Be prepared to sweat. Wear light, non-restrictive clothing that's comfortable to stretch in. Please also bring a mat, bottled water & a towel

Can you eat before class?

You should come to class on an empty stomach. You should not have food for approximately two hours before class. You can drink juice or eat fruits up to one hour before class. It is important to come hydrated so make sure to drink water before, during, and after class.

Are classes at Chennai Yoga Studio a cardio workout?

Absolutely. Our yoga classes incorporate many challenging postures that sustain an elevated heart rate.

What if I'm not flexible?

You don't have to be flexible to start yoga. The dynamic flow of postures allows tight muscles to stretch with greater ease. In fact, the more inflexible you are, the more of a reason it is for you to practice yoga. Yoga is about balancing the mind, body and soul. Flexibility is a natural outcome of this process, not a pre-requisite.

Will I lose weight?

Yes. With regular practice, students find their bodies becoming significantly more trim and toned. The added bonus is that Yoga improves the major systems of the body and increases healthiness and vitality, and this is the best way to lose weight in the long run. Of course, a balanced diet should also play an important part
