    Vinyasa Power Yoga

    Aim: Tone and strengthen body

    Warning: Get ready to sweat!

It is a dynamic, vigorous practice that synchronizes movement and breath in a continuous flow of poses beginning with Sun Salutations.

Intense internal heat creates a cleansing and purifying sweat. It increases strength, stamina, flexibility, and mental focus. It is a fast-paced class with poses that also encourage alignment, balance, and cardiovascular endurance.

    Restorative Vinyasa Flow

    Aim: Increase flexibility and mobility

    Warning: Addictive

This is a slow paced yoga with postures being held for comparatively long periods of time. The postures apply moderate stress to the connective tissues – the tendons, fascia & ligaments, increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility.

Restorative flow is a complimentary practise to balance the more active power flow classes.

    Yoga FUNdamentals

    Aim: Get comfortable

    Warning: Easy going and detailed

This class is designed for beginners & those students that have been practising for only a short time, you will cover the foundational postures of our Vinyasa yoga sequence, breath exercises and meditation techniques that form the fundamentals of yoga

    Kids Yoga

    Aim: Yoga through stories

    Warning: Fun

Children learn through games, play and storytelling so these classes do not follow the same structure as an adult class. In fact, there is very little structure and every opportunity for fun and creativity.

The focus is on fun and respecting their bodies and each other. Yoga poses are taught in an age appropriate way and are further developed as children gain more confidence and understanding.

    07:45 to 08:45 am - Yoga FUNdamentals

  • FAQ

    Is there a class etiquette?

Yes! Yoga is a about discipline, so please come to class 15 minutes prior as there is no late admittance. Once in class, maintain silence and listen carefully to the teacher’s instructions. Allow yourself at least five classes to become familiar with the sequence and see benefits

    What should I wear/bring?

Be prepared to sweat. Wear light, non-restrictive clothing comfortable to stretch in. Please also bring a mat, bottled water & towel

    Can you eat before class?

You should come to class on an empty stomach. You should not have food for approx. 2 hours before class. You can drink juice or eat fruits up to 1 hour before class. It is important to come hydrated so make sure to drink water before, during and after class.

Are classes at Chennai Yoga a cardio workout?
Absolutely. Our yoga incorporates many challenging postures that sustain an elevated heart rate.

    What if I'm not flexible?
You don't have to be flexible to start yoga. The dynamic flow of postures allows tight muscles to stretch with greater ease. In fact the more inflexible you are the more reason you should practice yoga. Yoga is about balancing mind, body and soul, flexibility is a natural outcome of this process,
    rather than a pre-requisite.

    Will I lose weight?

Yes. With regular practice students find their bodies becoming significantly trimmer and toned. The added bonus is Yoga improves the major systems of the body, increasing health and vitality, which is the best way to lose weight in the long term. Of course a balanced diet should also play an important part.
